2010 appalachian wander-a-thon
AJ's thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail: There are times when doing what you want and doing something good just slip into the same space. My Mom has cancer. I planned to hike the Appalachian Trail. Those two things happened together. Now I'm asking folks to help other women in need by pledging support for my trip. Enough people with just a penny a mile can do some good for those who do not have access to the type of care my mom has recieved. Thanks much and please follow me on my wanderings.

Getting Closer....
Well taking an unplanned break in Franklin, NC waiting for my mail drop to show up. Thought the other night was cold but last night completely took the cake. 19 F when I woke up this morning. Frost on the beard while breaking down camp and getting into town. I'm realllllly looking forward to some warm weather in FL. Hopefully back on the trail again this afternoon so I don't blow my planned pace for the next few days. Friday after Thanksgiving is still the finish date it's just a question of 16 vs 21 mile days. On the plus side the weather is getting warmer and the elevation should be dropping so warmer nights!! Hope everyone is loving life.

Last Zero!!!
Well back in TN thanks to Marc and Marion Postelwaite. They drove 2 1/2 down to Fontana Dam to get me out of the rain and cold for some needed rest. I made it through the Smokies with a great weather window so while there was still plenty of snow on the ground the days were clear and crisp. Back to the trial tomorrow and then 9 more days till home!!! I'm ready to be done with this wander but at the same time I don't want it to end. Not time for reflection yet when I still have 150 miles left to go. Weird how that seems like such a short way compared to what I was feeling when I started. Finally got a new card reader so here are some photos from the last few weeks. I'll have a complete set of the second half up when I get done. Still loving the trail and living my dream. Much love to y'all!
